Buccaneer

My Mum took this photo of Jarrad sitting in a boat at a playground in Mandurah. My first thought on seeing it the other day was to crop the photo and have a bit of a pirate or ocean theme. I looked in my trusty Scrapbook Factroy Deluxe 4.0 for pirate related items but nothing really inspired me. This morning I went down the road to the local trash and treasure sale held in the carpark of our local shopping centre of a Sunday morning. Lo and behold, I purchased a book called the Bookshelf for Boys and girls Volume 9 printed in 1963. In it was this beautiful illustration. I cannot determine from the list of illustrators who the artist was so I will acknowledge them all - Lawrence Dresser, Elton Fax, E Harper Johnson, Robert Lawson, Harve Stein, George Woodbrisdge. I love old books and really shouldn't be buying more but as long as I have a little bit of space on a bookshelf, why not! It is better I have it and treasure it than it end up at the dump.

The journalling comes from this- My ex used to recite this little ditty from his childhood
-
I'm Yosemite Sam the Pirate
A buccaneer am I
I sail the seas, the seven seas
The seven seas of high
If anyone gives me trouble
I'll make them walk the plank
And watch the pretty bubbles
Come up from where they sank
Ya ho Ya ho Ya ho

Where this came from and who wrote it I have no clue but it has become a family favourite and I would love to be able to thank the author for all the pleasure he or she has given us in his or her words.

The first post to my new blog. I have blogged little prior to this although I admit I have indulged in the joys of Squidoo, and made a couple of entries into my blog at Two Peas in a Bucket.com.
I haven't really made regular entries because I feel like I am purely writing to myself in some sort of secret diary. What use is it prattling away about what one has done or is doing if nobody is ever going to see it? All the energy of doing so is wasted and the words just sit in blog limbo. I don't lurk in blog websites reading everything and I guess many other people don't as well. Up until joinng 2peas I didn't know anyone who kept a blog - most of my friends only use their computers to email. I more than get my moneys wotrth from my trusty pc.It is a little bit different now as the peas like to share their blogs and so I have come back (like BrylcreemLOL) to Blogger.I will make regular contributions to this blog and I hope you will follow me and not let my words sit in limbo. Feel free to comment and add your opinion to the pot. Don't forget to check out my poll. Do you eat Vegemite?
